MnDOT is seeking an experienced leader to oversee the implementation of Aeronautics plans, programs, and projects.
The Office of Aeronautics Director leads and manages the programs that support the statewide system of airports and general aviation services in Minnesota. The Aeronautics Office provides statewide services in the field of aviation to include: working with airports to develop projects; licensing and regulation enforcement; and innovation. The successful candidate will direct an annual budget of over $32 million for Airport Development and Assistance and Aviation Support Services along with federal funds totaling $500 million and lead a team of over 45 staff to promote aviation in Minnesota through development of aviation policies and procedures, and implementation of the Airport Development Plan, the State Aviation System Plan, and the Aviation Services Program.
The successful applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in planning, public administration, aviation management, engineering, or related field and five years of progressively responsible leadership in which three years are managerial in the field of transportation planning and program development (Managerial means those positions being accountable for determining, securing, and allocating human, financial and other resources needed to accomplish objectives.
