Three Positions with CARPDC

The Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission (CARPDC) is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST:  CARPDC is now accepting applications for a full-time Community Development position.   This position is responsible for preparing State and Federal grant applications using established guidelines and for the administration of funded grant projects, including but not limited to, conducting studies, performing on-site inspections and preparing reports. Additionally, this position will provide technical assistance to member governments on community development related matters and perform other related duties as required.  Education and/or experience in Grant writing and administration. Applicant must have Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully. Salary Range: $37,000 to $55,000.  Salary and position classification based on education and experience. 

PLANNER I | GIS TECHNICIAN: CARPDC is now accepting applications for a full-time Planner I /GIS Technician position. This position is responsible for the collection of data for, and the development of, plans and other professional documents. This position will be responsible for the computer-aided production of maps, graphic illustrations and related materials. Additionally, they will interpret various reference materials and survey information to determine mapping specifications, as well as maintain mapping-related computer hardware and software in an appropriate manner. Education and/or experience in planning, GIS or a planning related field required. Applicant must have Master’s Degree; or Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary Range: $37,000 to $55,000. Salary and position classification based on education and experience.

REGIONAL ECONOMIC RECOVERY COORDINATOR: CARPDC is seeking dynamic and self-motivated Regional Economic Recovery Coordinator(s) to assist the agency and its partners in promoting a sustainable, responsive, and resilient region in light of the coronavirus pandemic. The Coordinator(s) will be a part of an innovative team of staff and partner organizations working to plan recovery, mitigation, and emergency action efforts throughout the CARPDC three-county region. This position is grant funded for a two-year term; renewal is contingent on future funding. Successful candidate(s) must pass organization’s background screening process and possess a valid driver’s license. Travel throughout a three-county region is required. Other travel may be required on occasion. The Coordinator(s) will be expected to work some occasional evenings. A Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, economics, or a related field with considerable experience in economic or community development, emergency management, planning, or related field is required. A Master’s degree in Public Administration or related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Potential salary range from $37,000 to $60,000 depending upon qualifications and experience.
