Planner Associate | Bay Minette, AL

The City of Bay Minette is accepting applications for a full-time Planner Associate to assist the City Planner with city planning functions. Planner Associate requires a bachelor’s degree in urban or community planning, or geography with a concentration in urban, community, or environmental planning, or GIS, architecture, engineering, or closely related area. Courses or experience utilizing GIS required. Community or regional planning experience preferred.

An incumbent in this position will perform responsible professional planning work in the research and analysis of planning data, the development of planning studies, reports, reviews, and other professional level responsibilities in support of city planning functions and the City Planner. The Planner works under the supervision of the City Planner and supervision may be exercised over other employees.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualification requirements include:

– Requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in urban or community planning, geography with a concentration in urban, community or environmental planning or geographic information science, architecture, engineering, or a closely related area; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
– Coursework or demonstrated experience in utilizing geographic information systems to update maps is also required. A minimum of one year of experience in community or regional planning is preferred.
– Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

Salary & Benefits

Rate of pay begins at $22.27/hour, depending on experience.
