Description
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, administration, coordination, and implementation of all Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB) programs. This position reports to the RPCGB Board of Directors and is responsible for directing all Commission activities and the general administration of all established Commission rules, regulations, and policies. Work involves the responsibility for planning, coordinating, assigning, administering, and oversight of the entire spectrum of activities of all departments and division heads, professional, technical, and clerical staff engaged in the Commission’s work program and projects and in the overall operation of the agency. The Executive Director is directly responsible for the development of future projects and/or programs that are necessary to the future of the RPCGB, the region, and member governments. The Executive Director assures all aspects of the RPCGB are functioning as effectively and efficiently as possible in line with the Board of Directors’ strategic plan.
Job Requirements
Graduate Degree or higher in Business/ Public Administration, Urban Planning or related field. A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in professional planning, public administration, or program management activities, including at least five years of progressively responsible management, administrative and supervisory experience. Prefer part of the professional experience to be with a Regional Planning and Development Commission, Development District, Area Agency on Aging, Council of Governments, or equivalent Regional Planning Agency.
