Speaker Information
Ms. Shelia Montgomery-Mills is a two time graduate of UAB holding a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration. Shelia holds a professional licensure as an engineer in the state of Alabama. Her 21 year career in the project management field began as a civil engineer at the City of Birmingham and later as a senior project manager at a sitework construction firm, CA Murren & Sons. After 7 years in construction, Shelia began working independently as a project facilitator with project owners, contractors and engineers.
In the fall of 2010, with her diverse portfolio of experience, Shelia established Civil Construction Solutions, LLC (CCS) offering professional project and construction management services as well as financial and organizational expertise. CCS fills the unique needs of businesses and owners; for businesses whose workload is growing but who do not wish to hire additional staff or for owners who wish to have expert third party representation on their construction projects. CCS is a HUB Zone, woman owned business located in downtown Birmingham.
Giving back to the community is very important to Shelia. Currently, she is the President of the Birmingham Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), serves on several Branch committees, and represents Alabama at the ASCE Washington DC Legislative Fly-in. Shelia is also a member of the Magic City Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials. Creating sustainable communities drew Shelia to become Envision SP and LEED BD&C credentialed.
