New Webmaster for AL APA

We welcome Stephen Guthrie, AICP as the new Webmaster for the AL APA Chapter. Stephen is the current Deputy Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of Mobile. He has made career stops in Hattiesburg, MS and NW China before joining the City of Mobile in September of 2025.

Stephen worked as a Planner I for the City of Hattiesburg upon graduation from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2016. After working for some time in Hattiesburg, he and his wife moved to NW China where he worked as a Project Manager for Global Bridge, an international trade company. Part of his duties for Global Bridge during language learning were writing newsletters, producing social media content, and maintaining the website. These skills are what has led him to join the AL APA Team as Webmaster.

After returning from China in the midst of the COVID pandemic, Stephen began work with Lamar County, MS as their Associate Planner. After some time with Lamar County, he was approached about taking a position as the MPO Manager for the Hattiesburg, MS area. His work for the MPO resulted in locating misallocated funding, developing a new TIP, and completing the Federal Tri-Annual review. Seeking to get back into the Planning and Zoning side of the Planning world, Stephen sought employment with the City of Mobile where he has been employed since September of 2025. 

Stephen currently resides in Moss Point, MS with his wife and their two kids.
