Input Needed – Climate Resilience Infrastructure, Planning, and Management Survey

The Department of Political Science Department at Auburn University is requesting participation in a research study that’s examining water infrastructure and management in Alabama, and the impact of severe weather events on these systems and communities’ capacities.

Specifically, this research seeks to create an inventory of knowledge to assist in decision making around climate resilient infrastructure. They aim to inventory severe weather events, their frequency and severity, and their impact on water-related infrastructure across the state of Alabama. They also aim to identify barriers and challenges, as well as best practices for creating more resilient communities. This research is funded by the Alabama Water Resources Research Institute’s Statewide Competitive Grants Program (Fiscal Year 2024), US Geological Survey.

The research team is interested in learning more from professionals, aged 18 years and older, who are working on water infrastructure and management issues in the state of Alabama. Specifically, participants are asked to participate in a self-administered web-based survey, which is done at your leisure and will take about 15 – 20 minutes to complete.

There is no compensation offered for your participation, nor are there any costs. This research does not involve any risks or discomforts beyond what one experiences in normal daily life. If you choose to participate in this research, your identity will remain confidential. Your participation will help inform the research results that may help better inform planning and policy decisions in your community.

This invitation to participate in the survey has been widely shared and cross-posted.
