SUMMARY:Subdivision Regulations in the 21st Century (Auburn)
DESCRIPTION:Summary\nSubdivision regulations are a critical tool for land development regulation. They can address the demands of growing communities or the redevelopment of infill sites. In this lecture\, learn the legal basis and parameters for subdivision controls. Explore standards for subdivision control and typical subdivision processes. A major focus is on how subdivision controls can be used alone — e.g. in rural communities that lack zoning\, how they fit into a comprehensive regulatory system\, and how they relate to zoning or form-based codes. \nCM Credits\n1.0 CM credits are available for this event. \nRegistration / More Information\nPlease let us know if you can attend this session so we can prepare an appropriate number of conference visuals and reference materials. SUMMARY:National Disaster Recovery Framework and Planning for Post-Disaster Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Summary\nEveryone plays a role in disaster recovery\, both before and after an event. The National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF) is a guide that defines how the whole community will work together following a disaster to best meet the recovery needs of individuals and families\, communities and states.  \nHurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee showcased the challenges a community may face in the aftermath of an event. In this session\, we will discuss best practices and lessons learned from the post-disaster recovery plans completed in communities in Pennsylvania. Post-disaster recovery planning forms the foundation for allocating resources and provides the benchmark for progress. It promotes post-disaster organizations to manage recovery in a deliberate and transparent process.  \nThis session will introduce community planners to the concepts and core principles of the NDRF; equip planners and others involved in post-disaster recovery with the tools and techniques needed to design and execute a post-disaster planning process; and will educate planners on how to build community capacity through the post-disaster planning process. Planners will leave this session armed with a number of community recovery and planning resources. They will learn the critical steps needed to guide communities to successful recovery. They will learn how to engage local citizens in the recovery process\, and teach community members how to be engaged\, successful\, local champions who will take ownership of their local recovery planning process. \nSpeakers\n\nSheaBrianna Christilaw\nMichelle Harel\n\nCM Credits\n1.5 credits are available for this event. \nRegistration / More Information\nRegistration is not required\, but please RSVP to south@alabamaplanning.org if you plan on attending. \nTo register to watch the webinar at another location\, visit https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/260898874
