DESCRIPTION OF JOB / POSITION
GMC is seeking a Community Planner to serve as consultant to communities across the Southeastern US. Primary work will focus on long-rage planning including Comprehensive Plans, Downtown and Special District Master Plans, Regional Strategic Plans, Campus Plans, Recreational Plans, etc. Regulatory planning work could include Zoning Ordinances, Form-Based Codes, Subdivision Regulations, Historic District Guidelines, etc.
GMC is one of the region’s largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms, with more than 400 employees across sixteen regional offices. This location of this position is for the Birmingham office with intentions to work across the company footprint.
Masters in Planning, Urban Design, or closely affiliated field and 2 years experience in a planning position, or, Bachelors degree in planning, architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation or closely related field and 4 years experience in a planning related position.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter, motivated, capable of taking instructions, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. The applicant must also be familiar with a planning process and posses the ability to facilitate meetings, both large and small. Technical skills should include ArcMap, Microsoft Office, and Adobe products.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
